Victor Herbert Lesh, lovingly known as Vic, Dad, and Grandpa, peacefully passed away at the age of 87 on August 26, 2025, at his home in Center Point, Texas, surrounded by his family.
Victor was born on February 12, 1938, in Butler, Pennsylvania, to Warren Victor and Ethel Florence (Prichard) Lesh. He graduated from Kinsman High School in Kinsman, Ohio, on May 24, 1955. On December 4, 1969, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Faye Finster, at Orfordville Lutheran Church in Wisconsin. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised five children: Jeffrey, Theresa, Jon, Joel, and Tina.
Victor proudly served his country, joining the United States Army on September 12, 1961. He served as a Military Police Officer (SP4-E4MPC) and later continued his service with the U.S. Army National Guard as a Crew Chief for the UH-1 helicopter.
His lifelong passion for aviation became his career. Victor began in Janesville, Wisconsin, working alongside his brother, Lee Lesh, a Bell 47 pilot. In 1977, he moved to South Texas and joined North-Aire Helicopters, working with his good friend, John Love, in the agricultural aviation industry. He later became Service Manager for McAllen Aviation, overseeing both fixed-wing and rotary aircraft maintenance.
Victor's career took him across the globe, including work in Nicaragua restoring government helicopters and in Japan, where he built helicopters for the first private helicopter pilot school. He also worked with Laredo Helicopters, serving private ranches, pilots, and international wildlife management operations. Victor continued to maintain helicopters for ranchers and private aviation companies as a Independent contractor late into his career. Even after retirement, Victor remained active as a consultant, sharing his expertise and love for aviation.
While aviation was his profession and passion, Victor also gave generously of his time to his community. Alongside his wife, Elizabeth, he supported Comfort Table and Food Pantry, the Boys & Girls Club, and especially his church family at Gaddis United Methodist Church in Comfort, Texas. He cherished his Saturday mornings with "The Breakfast Club," a circle of dear friends who became family.
Victor was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, and his beloved wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Faye. He is survived by his five children: Jeffrey (Angie) of Pharr, Texas; Theresa (Carlos) of Center Point, Texas; Jon (Bernice) of Salado, Texas; Joel (Tina) of Tamuning, Guam; and Tina (David) of Fredericksburg, Texas. He was deeply loved by 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Gaddis United Methodist Church in Comfort, Texas.
