Victor Hugo Reyes Mazariegos

Víctor Hugo Reyes Mazariegos nació el 19 de febrero de 1959 en La Democracia, lugar donde también cursó sus estudios tempranos. Fue hijo de Víctor Reyes y Antonia Mazariegos. Creció junto a sus hermanos Carlos Enrique, Miriam y su hermana gemela o "cuata", Blanca Estela. A lo largo de su vida, habitó en distintos lugares: pasó un tiempo en la Ciudad de Guatemala y, tras emigrar, vivió en California, Carolina del Norte, regresó un tiempo a California y finalmente se estableció en Colorado.

En su trayectoria laboral, sirvió con dedicación en el ejército durante 10 años, retirándose en 1991. Al llegar a Estados Unidos, se destacó por su gran dedicación y estabilidad, teniendo únicamente dos trabajos: primero en California en Regal Rent, y posteriormente en la planta de Cargill donde laboró por 25 años. Sin duda, su mayor logro y por lo que más luchó en la vida fue trabajar incansablemente para que a su familia no le faltara nada y lograr comprar su propia casa.

La familia era su motor principal. Formó un hogar lleno de amor junto a su esposa, Emiliana Solís. Fue un padre entregado para sus hijos Josué (Naomi) y Hugo (Angelic). Fue un abuelo orgulloso de Malique, Alexis, Moisés, Aiden, Adam, Liam, Aylín, Yaniris y Yandel. Además de amar profundamente a su esposa, hijos y nietos, guardaba un lugar muy especial en su corazón para su tía Germania Mazariegos, a quien quiso y adoptó como a su segunda madre tras el fallecimiento de la suya.

Quienes lo conocieron lo describen como un hombre alegre, chistoso, amable y sumamente bromista; tenía el don de convertir cualquier situación en una broma para hacer reír a los demás. Tenía una capacidad única para hacer sentir a todos bienvenidos en su hogar, siempre preocupado por saber si sus invitados ya habían comido o si necesitaban algo. Su rasgo más distintivo era su inmensa generosidad: era capaz de compartir la mitad de su plato o entregar lo único que llevaba en el bolsillo con tal de ayudar a alguien que lo necesitara, sin importarle quedarse sin nada.

Sus pasatiempos reflejaban su gusto por las cosas sencillas de la vida. En su tiempo libre le encantaba ir a pescar, arreglar su jardín, ver partidos de fútbol. Llevaba el ritmo por dentro, disfrutando de escuchar bachata, cumbia y salsa. Le apasionaba viajar a Guatemala para compartir con sus primos y familiares, y también podía pasar horas divirtiéndose en los casinos sin aburrirse. Sus seres queridos atesoran los viajes juntos, las visitas a comer comida china y las pláticas mientras él disfrutaba de sus chicharrones, mangos, jugo de coco o su tradicional desayuno de huevos con tomate, cebolla, plátanos y crema.

En el ámbito espiritual, era un hombre de fe que pertenecía a la Iglesia Católica y asistía regularmente a misa en la iglesia Santa Elena los fines de semana.

El legado más grande que Víctor Hugo deja a todos los que lo rodearon es su enseñanza de no tenerle amor al dinero, sino amor a la vida, y la importancia de siempre ayudar a los demás. Será recordado por siempre por su corazón desprendido, su sentido del humor y el amor incondicional que le brindó a su familia.

Se llevará a cabo una visita el miércoles 1 de abril de 2026 de 5 a 7 PM en Heer Mortuary en Fort Morgan. También se llevará a cabo una visita el jueves 2 de abril de 9 a 11 AM en la Iglesia Católica Saint Helena, con la Recitación del Santo Rosario comenzando a las 10:15 AM, seguida de la Misa a las 11:00 AM. La inhumación seguirá en el Cementerio Memory Gardens.

Víctor Hugo Reyes Mazariegos was born on February 19, 1959, in La Democracia, where he also completed his early education. He was the son of Víctor Reyes and Antonia Mazariegos. He grew up alongside his siblings Carlos Enrique, Miriam, and his twin sister, Blanca Estela. Throughout his life, he lived in various places: he spent some time in Guatemala City, and after emigrating, he lived in California, North Carolina, returned to California for a while, and finally settled in Colorado.

In his career, he served with dedication in the army for 10 years, retiring in 1991. Upon arriving in the United States, he stood out for his great dedication and stability, holding only two jobs: first in California at Regal Rent, and later at Cargill where he worked for 25 years. Undoubtedly, his greatest achievement and what he fought for the most in life was working tirelessly so that his family lacked nothing, eventually buying his own home.

Family was his main driving force. He built a loving home alongside his wife, Emiliana Solís. He was a devoted father to his sons, Josué (Naomi) and Hugo (Angelic). He was a proud grandfather to Malique, Alexis, Moisés, Aiden, Adam, Liam, Aylin, Yaniris, and Yandel. In addition to deeply loving his wife, children, and grandchildren, he held a very special place in his heart for his aunt Germania Mazariegos, whom he loved and adopted as a second mother after his own mother passed away.

Those who knew him describe him as a joyful, funny, kind, and extremely playful man; he had the gift of turning any situation into a joke to make others laugh. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome in his home, always checking if his guests had already eaten or if they needed anything. His most distinctive trait was his immense generosity: he would gladly share half of his plate or give away the only thing he had in his pocket to help someone in need, without caring if he was left with nothing.

His hobbies reflected his appreciation for the simple things in life. In his free time, he loved going fishing, tending to his garden, and watching soccer games. He carried the rhythm within him, enjoying listening to bachata, cumbia, and salsa. He was passionate about traveling to Guatemala to spend time with his cousins and relatives, and he could also spend hours having fun in casinos without ever getting bored. His loved ones cherish their trips together, the outings to eat Chinese food, and the conversations while he enjoyed his pork rinds (chicharrones), mangoes, coconut juice, or his traditional breakfast of eggs with tomatoes, onions, plantains, and cream.

Spiritually, he was a man of faith who belonged to the Catholic Church and regularly attended mass at Santa Elena Church on weekends.

The greatest legacy Víctor Hugo leaves to all those who surrounded him is his teaching not to love money, but to love life, and the importance of always helping others. He will be remembered forever for his selfless heart, his sense of humor, and the unconditional love he gave to his family.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 5-7 PM at Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan. A viewing will also be held on Thursday, April 2nd from 9-11 AM at Saint Helena Catholic Church with Recitation of the Holy Rosary starting at 10:15 AM followed with Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
