Victor Stanley Wells, born on December 3, 1936, in Jacksonville, Georgia, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, also in his beloved hometown. A lifelong resident of Jacksonville, Stanley dedicated his life to serving his community through a diverse career that spanned many industries. He was renowned for his entrepreneurial spirit, as he was self-employed in farming, timber, Wells Grocery, Wells Hardware, and the Ocmulgee Banking Company.
Stanley graduated from Workmore High School, where he developed a strong foundation that he would later build upon throughout his professional endeavors. His vast experience across various sectors not only enriched his life but also had a lasting impact on the community he cherished so deeply.
Known for his warm personality, Stanley loved people and thrived on building relationships within his community, even serving a term as mayor. His kindness and affable nature endeared him to many, leaving a lasting impression on those who crossed his path.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Faye Sanford Wells, of Jacksonville, as well as two children: Vickie Marie (Tommy) Land of Jacksonville and Walter Lee Wells of Milledgeville. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Charity (Jeremy) Couey of Jacksonville and Bethany Grace Land of Jacksonville, as well as his great-grandchildren, Harmony Faith Couey and Trinity Hope Couey.
Stanley was preceded in death by his mother, Maude Fussell Wells; his father, Walter Lee Wells; and his grandson, Jon Marshal Land.
Visitation will take place on December 27, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, both at Blockhouse Baptist Church, located at 426 East River Road, Jacksonville, GA 31544. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Stanley's memory will remain alive in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community he so passionately served. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
