William Andrew McKinnon, Sr., fondly known as Bill, peacefully left this world on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in McRae, Georgia. Born on June 27, 1937, in Pidcock, Georgia, Bill lived a life marked by dedication, service, and compassion.
For 31 years, Bill served as the county extension agent for Telfair County, where he was known not only for his professional expertise but also for his commitment to bettering the lives of those in his community. His passion for agricultural education and community service was complemented by his academic achievements, having earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Georgia.
Bill was a devoted member of Community Life Church, where he pastored for over 20 years. His contributions to the church and the lives of its congregation were profound, embodying the values of faith and service that he cherished throughout his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Ginger McKinnon of McRae; their children, Billy (Celese) McKinnon of McRae, Susan (Joe) Kerr of St. Augustine, FL, Robert (April) McKinnon of Statesboro, and Fred (Joy) McKinnon of St. Simons. Bill was also a proud grandfather to Brittany (Matt) Wood, Brooke (Caleb) Smith, Ethan McKinnon, Julia McKinnon, David (Emily) McKinnon, Jon Michael McKinnon, Will McKinnon, Rebekah McKinnon, and Andrew McKinnon; as well as a great-grandfather to Jameson Wood, Jackson Wood, Billie Kate Smith, Britt Smith, Walker McKinnon, and special family member, Miracle.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Andrew Groover McKinnon and Sara M. Stewart McKinnon.
Visitation will be held at Community Life Church, located at 202 E. Oak St., McRae, GA 31055, on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00. Interment will be at Telfair Memorial Gardens.
Bill will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a pillar of his community. His legacy of service and faith will continue to inspire those who knew him.
