Victoria Andrea Jacinto
1937 - 2025
Victoria Andrea Jacinto was born in Los Angeles to parents, Andrew and Lucila Palider, on 01 November 1937. She departed peacefully from her earthly body on 20 March 2025, her spirit soaring toward the astral light, ever present.
She spent her early years alternating between Los Angeles and San Antonio, where she went to high school and met her lifelong friend Mabel. She moved back to Los Angeles after high school and a few years later met Alejandro Jacinto and they married on 26 January 1963. That same year, their beautiful daughter Alejandra was born. Then came 2 more daughters, Monica and Adriana, shortly after. Vicky had a great desire to be a mom and later a grandmother - she excelled at both. She intuitively knew that selflessness and unconditional love were paramount. She also instilled discipline and order, by example.
Her daughters describe a typical day in the life of Vicky:
She would wake up early for alone-time with the birds, trees, a cup of coffee and a few good hands of solitaire. Then it was time to make breakfast and get the girls ready for school. She would also prep lunch for one of the elderly relatives living in her home (grandmother, aunt, uncle). After school, she would drive Alejandra to care for her horse near Griffith Park, Monica to gymnastics in LA and Adriana to ballet on the West Side. She would cook dinner, which often included neighbors and friends - everyone loved her food. She never tired of serving others.
Vicky was guided by a strong moral compass and used to say "right is right, wrong is wrong and only a fool doesn't know the difference" She never sought praise or recognition. She did what she did out of love and because she knew it was the right thing to do. This dutifulness carried over to her work ethic outside the home as a beautician, working in a podiatrist office and later a certified interpreter.
Along with solitaire, her pastimes were crossword puzzles, reading a Shakespeare play, gardening, cooking, eating, traveling and reciting poetry with her daughters.
Vicky was brilliant, strong, selfless, courageous, feisty, witty, persevering, no-nonsense, social and inclusive.
She remains with us, forever in our hearts.
Amen
