Vida Elsayed Obituary

Vida fell asleep in death at the age of 72, on March 4, 2026, at her home in Mt. Juliet,

TN. She was the first born of five children born to William Scruggs and Eddie Mae Cato

Scruggs. Vida was preceded in death by her parents William and Eddie Scruggs,

Brother Kenneth Scruggs and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and a niece.

Vida was born on February 1, 1954, in Nashville, TN. She attended St. Vincent DePaul

from kindergarten through fourth grade. She then attended Inglewood Elementary,

Stratford High School and graduated from Hume Fogg High. She continued her

education and received certified training in secretarial skills in Nashville. She eventual

acquired training and was hired to work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons as a Prison

Counselor, admitting prisoners as they entered the system. This was a position that

allowed her to travel, during her career. She traveled from TN to GA, CO, NY, NJ and

PA. She was also able to travel to Egypt and visit the pyramids and travel down the Nile

River. Vida also had a passion for cooking. She loved experimenting with gourmet foods

and foods from many cultures. Vida loved her family and friends and loved to smile and

laugh,

Vida had been married twice in her life. Her first marriage produced three sons, Ronnie

J. Ray, Andre Ray and Anthony Ray. She was a grandmother and great grandmother to

many. She leaves to cherish her memory, sons Ronnie J. Ray (Rhonda), Mt. Juliet, TN,

Andre Ray (Golda), Springfield TN, Anthony Ray, sister Susan M. Cruise, Mt. Juliet, TN,

brothers William (Bill) Scruggs Jr., Gallatin, TN, John A. Scruggs (Angelena), Atlanta,

GA, grandchildren, Dominique Ray, Cali Ray, DeAndre Ray, Detevion Ray, DeNizha

Ray, Desaria Ray, numerous great grandchildren, cousins, nephews, devoted aunt and

friends.
