Vidal Castillo, 86, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on December 14, 2025. He was born on April 28, 1939, in San Benito, Texas.

Vidal served his country all his life, first in the Texas National Guard, then in the United States Army, following the activation during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After that, he served in several peacekeeping and administrative deployments in other countries. He served in the Vietnam War, then was posted as cadre training officers for the same. Eventually retiring from the Army in Indianapolis, he joined the civil service and continued work as an accountant for Naval Avionics, then the Finance Center.

During his first activation, he met Anna Mae Soileau, who he would eventually marry and raise a family to join him in his travels. This experience greatly enriched him, as well as them.

Vidal’s life was characterized by a dedication to those he cared for. He was extremely generous, and those who knew him admired his gentle spirit and the respect he extended to everyone around him.

Vidal’s contributions to his family, friends, and community will not be forgotten. His quiet strength and generous heart will forever inspire those fortunate enough to have known him.

Vidal is survived by his son, Vidal Castillo, Jr.; two sons by marriage: Paul Anthony Vidrine and Clarence Joseph Guillory; and their children: Elise Renae Vidrine and Chance Guillory.

A visitation will be Monday, December 29, 2025, from 10am to 2pm, with a funeral service to follow at 2pm at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana.
