Viktorija Roza, age 83, of Elgin, IL, passed away on October 9, 2025. She was born December 22, 1941 in Serbia to her loving parents, Branislav and Radmila (née Petrovic) Stojanovic.
Viktorija leaves behind a legacy of devotion, strength, and enduring spirit. Born and educated in Serbia, she completed her high school and trained as a typist before immigrating to the United States in the early 1960s to begin a new chapter in life.
Upon arriving in the U.S., she embraced every opportunity with hard work and resilience, taking on early jobs at Dunkin' Donuts and Leewards. She went on to work as a machine operator at Hoffer Plastics in South Elgin, Illinois, where she dedicated over 40 years of service and was recognized for her exemplary attendance and commitment. She retired in the early 2000s, leaving behind a career marked by quiet perseverance and dignity.
For over 30 years, Viktorija shared her life with her devoted companion, Srdjan Vucinic. She was deeply committed to her family and found joy in the company of good friends. A true example of what hard work and determination can achieve, Viktorija inspired those around her with her unwavering dedication and love.
Her passions were many-she loved planting flowers and vegetables, dancing, and was especially proud of her involvement in the Serbian Folklore Group. She had a deep appreciation for music, from Serbian and American tunes to classical melodies. Sports brought her joy as well; she was an enthusiastic fan of football, basketball, tennis, and anything Serbian.
Viktorija was a woman of faith who valued Catholic education for her children and held a deep trust in God throughout her life. Her greatest pride was in celebrating the milestones and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, always supporting them with heartfelt encouragement and love. She also cared deeply for her pets, who brought her great comfort and companionship.
Viktorija's life was one of quiet strength, cultural pride, and unshakable devotion to her loved ones. Her legacy lives on in the values she passed down and the lives she touched.
Viktorija was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Vidoje Stojanovic; and son-in-law, Fred Ingram. She is survived by her children, John (Angela) Roza and Mishalle Roza-Ingram; ex-husband, Carl Roza; grandchildren, Victor, Conor, and Juliana Roza; nieces and nephews; Zorica (Zvonko) Dordevic and Zoran (Svetlana) Stojanovic; and many other relatives that live in Serbia.
Visitation will be 5:00pm to 9:00pm, with prayers at 7:00pm, Friday, October 24, 2025, and will continue from 8:00am to 9:00am, Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Symonds-Madison Funeral Home, 305 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
Mass will be at 10:45am, Saturday, October 25, 2025 at New Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Monastery, 35240 W Grant Avenue, Third Lake, IL 60046. Fr. Peter will be officiating.
Interment to follow.
