Villgerd Reagles Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harder Funeral Home - Brookfield on Jul. 15, 2023.
On Friday, July 14, 2023, the fabulous Villgerd Helga Reagles departed this world to reunite with the love of her life.
Born on April 7, 1938, to parents Helge and Inger Christiansen, Villgerd enjoyed a luxurious childhood in Halden, Norway with her younger sister Solfrid. During her teenage years, she showed her adventurous side, kayaking the Norwegian fjords and skiing the Swiss Alps. Her parents gifted her a trip to America as a graduation present, and there she met Paul Gordon Reagles, a military man home on leave from Japan. The stars were perfectly aligned to bring these two people together when their homes were on the other side of the world! After a brief courtship, both returned to their home countries but soon Paul showed up in Halden, Norway to propose. The two were married in 1958 and made their home in Wisconsin. During their 25-year marriage, they had two sons, Keith and Brian, spent countless hours at their Rhinelander cabin, and enjoyed many swanky supper club dinners. Sadly, Villgerd lost Paul to cancer in 1983.
Yet Villgerd did not slow down! For the next forty years, she enjoyed traveling, shopping, and family gatherings. Her sister Solfried, who joined her in America, was a constant companion in her new adventures. Their children grew up together, and their grandchildren remain close. In her later years, Villgerd's greatest joy was time with her three grandchildren. She hosted sleepovers, created art projects, watched sporting events, and spent much time at playgrounds.
All who knew Villgerd will remember her as a classy, sophisticated lady with a charming accent. Villgerd is survived by her sister Solfrid (Steve) Fountain, her sons Keith (Lana) Reagles and Brian (Rebecca) Reagles, her much-loved grandchildren Paul, Katelyn, and Jack, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Special thanks to the caregivers at Matthews of Pewaukee for their perpetual care and attention to all of Villgerd's needs.
Memorial Service will be held at Wisconsin Memorial Park - Chapel of Chimes, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield on Friday, July 21 at 2:30 PM. Visitation for family and friends from 1:30 PM until time of service.
