Vincent Bangasser Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 30, 2025.
Vince Bangasser was born 98 years ago on a farm south of Freeport, Illinois, the youngest of four children. His death (November 20, 2025) came too soon for his family. He did not want to be a farmer and so enlisted in the Army. He served in Korea prior to the Korean War and then used the GI Bill to pursue his dream of flying. Being colorblind, he could not get a professional pilot's license. But in hindsight, a change in his career path allowed him more for time for his family. He went on to have a rewarding career first as an airline mechanic and then (at the age of 25), he was promoted to supervisor and union representative. Finally, he ended his career in management.

In 1949, he married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth Ann Koch and together they raised 6 children, but they lost another little girl, Barbara Jean who died in infancy. Vince had many talents, but his truest legacy is the things he did for his family. After he lost his wife to cancer in 2003, he became the strong center of his large family by himself. He continued to help wherever help was needed, and everybody loved him. This mutual love and the support from his family helped Vince to bounce back from several serious surgeries and to live a happy fulfilled life, despite the adversities that life brought to him. All who knew him well will miss him dearly because they know that he is irreplaceable.

He will be especially missed by his family ~ Chuck (Cheryl) Bangasser, Mary Beth (Gottfried) Millner, Bob (Sharon) Bangasser, Dave (Mary Jo) Bangasser, Julie (Steve) Melbye and Jan (& Rob) Typher as well as his 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vince and Beth left the family a valuable legacy of love & cohesion!

We will send Vince off with our prayers on December 5, 2025 at St Hubert's Catholic Church, 8201 Main St, Chanhassen, MN 55317.

Visitation will begin at 10:30am, followed by a Funeral Mass and then luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity that Vince proudly supported... smilenetwork.org.
