Vince Bernero

April 22, 1961 - Sept. 23, 2025

In Memoriam

Son. Brother. Uncle. Friend.

Vincent (Vince) Edward Bernero was welcomed into the gates of Heaven on September 23, 2025.

Predeceased by his parents, Virginia (Felice) and Giulio Bernero, and brother, Victor Bernero. Vince was relieved of his worldly burdens and called to the great reunion. He is survived by sisters Victoria (Robert) Ponitz, Valentina Bernero, brother Virgil (Teri) Bernero and many loving nieces and nephews.

An excellent athlete in his youth, Vince loved baseball especially, and was a big fan of the Detroit Tigers. He was a loyal friend who was always willing to help anyone in need.

Struck with severe mental illness in his late teens, Vince struggled to live a life most people take for granted. He courageously battled both the disease and the stigma that comes with it. He worked a variety of jobs without complaint, made friends everywhere he went and like his father before him, liked nothing more than a good walk. Despite his challenges, Vince maintained a cheerful outlook and rarely complained about anything, not even the weather. His legacy is one of faith and perseverance through the storms of life.

The family of Vince Bernero wishes to thank the incredible professionals at McLaren Oakland Hospital for their sensitive and excellent treatment of Vince during his illness and transition.
