Vincent “Vinny” Conti, 84 of Port St. Lucie, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on December 25, 2024. Vinny was born in the Bronx, New York on April 6, 1940 to Vincenzo and Flora Conti, growing up alongside four brothers and two sisters.
Vinny’s life was defined by hard work and a true love for family. Working as a police officer for the New York City Transit Police for 20 years, Vinny helped ensure the safety of his fellow New Yorkers. His family could always count on his support, guidance, and love under any circumstance.
Vinny enjoyed being active and pushed himself to beat the odds in all that he did. He inspired his family, friends, and community with his perseverance and strength. Vinny had a competitor’s spirit and was driven to excel in all the sports that he enjoyed which included golf, tennis, and bowling. Music, dancing, and spending quiet time at the beach while enjoying the sun and surf always brought him joy. Vinny truly had a love for life and always tried to live his to the fullest.
Vinny was blessed to have 61 years married to the love of his life, Mary Conti. They enjoyed many years of traveling together, socializing with friends, spending time with their children and grandchildren, and making each other laugh.
Vinny was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Nicholas Conti and Joseph Conti, and sister Susan Hilgers.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary Conti; his daughter Christine Hendren (Robert), with granddaughters Kelsie Hendren and Jenna Hendren; daughter Denise Eggers (James), with grandsons Matthew and Kyle Raynoha and great-grandson Mason Raynoha; daughter Carolyn Upham, with granddaughter Madison Upham and grandson Zachary Upham; brothers Sal Conti and Jerry Conti and sister Annette Sasso along with numerous other nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family wishes to extend its sincere gratitude to the amazing caregiver team at Safe Homecare, who provided abundant support and kindness to Vinny.
Visitation will be held from 3–4 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Haisley Tribute Center, located at 2041 SW Bayshore Blvd, Port St. Lucie, Florida 34984. A brief service to honor and celebrate Vinny’s life will be held at 4 p.m. following the visitation.
