A Joyful Celebration of the Life and Legacy of
Vincent Eric Elem
On January 16, 1964, the world gained a burst of sunshine wrapped in laughter and charisma - Vincent Eric Elem. Born in Chicago to the late Mattie Mae Elem and Jesse Turner, Vince was the youngest of seven and proudly wore the crown of "the baby boy." From his earliest days, his smile and sense of humor could light up any room.
Vince grew up in the Robert Taylor Homes, where his quick wit and joyful spirit turned ordinary days into memories. He accepted Christ at an early age at New Philadelphia Baptist Church and graduated from Simeon Career Academy, Class of 1982, known for his style, laughter, and charm.
For 28 years, Vince worked faithfully as a Clerk V with the Cook County Elections Department. To his coworkers, he wasn't just a colleague - he was family: dependable, funny, and full of life. Everyone loved "Vino."
In February 2000, Vince met the love of his life, Beverly, and from that day forward, the music never stopped. Together, they shared 23 years of marriage, laughter, travel, and joy, welcoming their beloved daughter Kalani and creating a home filled with warmth, faith, and fun.
Known affectionately as "Vince the Prince," he was a man of many gifts - a stylish dresser, a talented cook, a devoted husband, and a loving father of eight. His home was his stage, his family his audience, and his laughter the soundtrack of their lives.
On October 21, 2025, Vince traded his earthly home for his heavenly one, greeted by his parents, sisters Deborah and Cora, and brother Kenneth Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Beverly; children Cozetta, Carl, Desmond (Tomika), Eddie, Serene, Hakeem, Jarva, and Kalani (Dewan); 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Michael (Deborah), Cleveland (Walnetti), and Stanley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever remember his kindness, humor, and unforgettable "Vince-isms."
Though he has stepped into eternity, his melody lives on - in every smile, every joke, and every song shared by those who loved him.
Rest well, Vince the Prince.
