Vincent Falcone Obituary

Vincent A. Falcone
1940 - 2026
Springfield
Vincent Anthony Falcone, 85, passed away peacefully at the Harmony House on March 8, 2026. Born in Springfield, he was the son of the late Anthony and Angelina (Bilesimo) Falcone.
Vincent graduated from Springfield Technical High School in 1958 and was hired immediately to work in the Springfield Newspapers' composing department at the old Fort Street plant. Forty-five years later, he retired from the new Main Street plant as a Linotype Operator.
Vincent enjoyed both playing sports and watching them. He was on the Springfield Newspapers' AAA softball team, winning the Class A Championship in 1961. He also bowled with the Newspapers' league. He enjoyed watching the New York Giants, Boston Red Sox, Springfield Giants baseball, NASCAR, Boston Bruins, Springfield Indians and in recent years, the Springfield Thunderbirds.
He was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, volunteered for church operations, and was involved with the annual Taste of Italy and other church functions.
His family was what mattered most. He is survived by his beloved sisters, Anne Falcone of Springfield, and Theresa D'Amato & husband Bill of Colchester, VT, niece, Dr. Tina D'Amato & husband David Plante of Burlington, VT, and nephew, Dr. Anthony D'Amato, wife Jess Butler & grandnephew Quinn D'Amato of Williston, VT.
All are invited to Vincent's Liturgy of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 14th, 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel Church, proceeding to his burial at St. Michael's Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Church, 123 William St., Springfield, MA 01105, or Harmony House, 66 View St., Chicopee, MA 01020.

Vinnie was such a great guy. I worked with him at The Republican for many years. He was often my contact in the composing room when I was doing page design. He always watched out for his colleagues, and was great about notifying us editors if we made a mistake. I alway felt as if I could trust him, and got a kick out of his great sense of humor. I miss Vinnie.
