Vinny Miller, Beloved Husband, Friend, Colleague, devoted family man and mechanical engineer, passed away at the young vibrant age of 65. If you knew Vinny, you probably had seen photos of him or had photos taken of you. It did not matter where he was or what he was doing, he was always capturing moments of those around him. His wife Barbara will forever remember their morning coffee together and Wednesday and Friday night dinner date ritual, that was never without, a photo of the 2 of them with the menu propped up and his Stella in hand. Again, Vinny being Vinny and capturing each moment. Barbara (also know as Cutie Pie) was the love of his life and he would always drive her and pick her up from the station when she was commuting. His family also describes him as mechanically inclined. Vinny could take anything apart and put it back together. Whether doing a repair or making something work more efficiently, no task was a challenge for him. In Vinny's spare time, he enjoyed biking with Barbara, gardening, watching the birds. Vinny also loved traveling, family vacations and playing cards and games. His memory will continue to live on with those who knew him.
He leaves behind his wife of 13 years Barbara Miller, his mom Elvira Betza, a brother Steven Miller and his partner Robert Nisbet, mother and father-in-law Thomas and Barbara Houston, brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Wendy Houston, sister and brother-in-law Beth and Pat Kiernan, Niece and Nephews, Keri, Jake, Luke, Ryan and his wife Katie, and Aunt Tina Covino, and many cousins.
He was predeceased by his father Alexander Miller.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday April 10, 2023 from 4pm to 8pm at Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 501 Highway 79, Morganville, NJ 07751. A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday April 11, 2023 at 11am at St. Clement Church, 172 Freneau Ave., Matawan, NJ. Kari and I were shocked to just learn of Vinny's sudden passing. He was our friend for over 35 years and we will never forget him. We send our deepest sympathies to Barb and his family. -- Tony Hatab

I first met Vinnie on-site at LIRR, in 2010 or 2011. I was pretty new to the company (and the industry), and Vinnie's wealth of knowledge was a godsend for a newb like myself. He taught me a ton, and was always patient while doing so, despite my endless questions and dumb looks. He was also just a hell of a fun guy to work with, with a million stories and jokes. We haven't worked together recently, but I am very saddened by his passing.

My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Vinnie was a treasure; he will be both missed and remembered.

Vinny was a good collogue and friend. When he would visit the Hitachi Pittsburgh office, he had a presence about him; in other words, you knew "Vinny was in the building". Vinny was so full of life, and a pleasure to work with. I will miss you, my friend.
Eternal rest grant unto Vinny, O Lord: and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
