Vincent Neal Obituary

Vincent B. Neal, 86, of Penn Township, died on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, from injuries sustained in a tragic car accident. He was born on Jan. 28, 1938, in Jeannette, to Vincent and Eleanor (Kovalesky) Neal. Vince is survived by his beloved wife, Maria Neal; son, Vincent Neal, and wife, Carroll, of Sydney, Australia; daughter, Michelle Mason, and husband, Glen, of Geneva, Switzerland; cherished grandchildren, Harrison Neal, Halle Mason, and Skyler Mason; his Croatian daughter, Ada Drescher; sister, Jackie Phillips-Busato, of Jeannette; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great friends. Vince worked at Westinghouse Corp for more than 30 years, primarily in the East Pittsburgh Computer Center, working on one of the first-ever Univac computers. After retiring, Vince turned a lifelong passion into a second career at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Since his first ski school season in the early 1990s, Vince had a reputation for making friends, inspiring new skiers, and sharing homemade bottles of 'Vince's Vino.' Vince was still teaching in 2025. To stay in shape for ski season and make friends with non-skiers, Vince became an avid runner. He completed several half and full marathons, including the Marine Corps Marathon in DC, and ran hundreds of shorter distance races across the tri-state area. Vince grew up hunting and fishing and loved southwestern Pennsylvania dearly, but trips to the Philippines and Japan sparked an interest in global travel. He later visited England, Ireland, and Scotland; Croatia; Australia and New Zealand; Hong Kong; Cambodia; Thailand; Singapore; and Switzerland, where he skied the Alps with his grandkids. He and his wife Maria also enjoyed several cruises to explore the Americas, Europe, and the Mediterranean. Vince and Maria were proud to be founding members of a club that became the Filipino American Association of Pittsburgh. The couple and their children performed folk dances in venues near and far and participated in annual folk festivals held for many years at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena. Vince was also a long-time parishioner of St. Barbara Catholic Church. He served as the vice president of the Young at Heart club, the designated driver for the parish rosary group, and the unofficial doorman for anyone needing a little extra help. Per Vince's wishes, there will be no visitation or service at this time. A Mass honoring his life will be celebrated in the warmer months at St. Barbara Catholic Church, Harrison City. Arrangements entrusted to LINDSAY-JOBE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3343 Route 130, PO Box 465, Harrison City, 724-744-2721. In honor of Vince, the family is exploring options for how to support the things he loved. Details will follow. online condolences can be given at www.Lindsay-JobeFuneralHome.com.

As a fellow ski instructor with Vince at Seven Springs, Vince was an inspiration for us older folks to follow our passion.
