Vincent F. Scordato

Vincent F. Scordato, age 101 of Newton, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16th, 2025, at the UMC at Bristol Glen in Newton. Born in Paterson to the late Giovanni and Rosa (Valentino) Scordato, Vincent served his country honorably during World War II. Following his military service, Vincent worked for Megor Car and Freuhoff in Clifton, building railroad cars. He most recently worked as a welder and fabricator for Curtiss-Wright Corp. in Fairfield, prior to his retirement. Predeceased by his parents; daughter Diane Scordato; his two late wives, Patricia and Lois Scordato; and six brothers, Vincent is survived by his sons Thomas Scordato, John Scordato and wife Mary Pat, and Mark Scordato and his fiancé Mira Cocozziello; as well as his six beloved grandchildren Katie, Laura, Jason, Deborah, Jacob, and Brianna. When Vincent married Lois, his family grew in number and love. He was much loved by Lois's three children: Charles Malysse (Gail) and Janice Wehmuller (John), who predecease him, and Karen (John) Brooks; in addition to their 9 children, 21 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, with three on the way. A visitation for Vincent will be held on Friday, May 23rd, 2025, from 3-7PM at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home (One Vanderhoof Court for GPS), 241 Route 94, Vernon, NJ 07462. The funeral service will be on Saturday, May 24th, 10AM at the funeral home. Burial in the Northern New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org).
