Vincente A. McCalister

Vincente A, McCalister was born on April 28, 1966, in Akron, Ohio, to his parents, the late Lucy A. McCalister and Johnny Milan. He was the fourth of their five sons. Vincente attended Akron Public Schools, and he was a lifelong resident of Akron, until his untimely death on August 23, 2025. Raised by his Mom, Lucy, she instilled in her five sons a strong spiritual foundation as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Vincente carried those teachings with him throughout his life. Though he never became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he studied occasionally over the years and often affirmed what he learned and knew, as the truth in his own words. The loss of his mother was a profound moment in his life, one that left a lasting impact and revealed the depth of his love and vulnerability.

Vincente was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Milan and Lucy A. McCalister, and his brother, Vernon A. McCalister. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved daughter, Sierra Huffman; his granddaughter, Lotus Huffman; his brothers and their spouses — Victor and Nazarene Milan, Vaughn and Melissa McCalister, and Vernard McCalister; nieces Porschea and Jade Milan; great-niece Kassidy Milan; great-nephew Austin Hightower; his uncle Earnest McCalister and his wife Isabel; and his aunt Johnny Mae McCalister.
