Obituary
Beloved daughter of the late Milton Sturgis and Elizabeth Jones, Viola L. Harmon (affectionately known as Vala), was born on May 10, 1949 in Exmore, Virginia. Viola departed this life on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Riverside Hospital in Onancock, Virginia
Vala was educated in the Northampton County school system. She worked as an oyster shucker in her early years but spent twenty-five (25) years working for Perdue Farms before health issues forced her to retire.
She gave God her life and became a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. She was a senior usher and remained in that position until her health started deteriorating.
Vala was married to the late James E. Harmon, and they shared three children together.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Milton, Leon, and William and three sisters, Mary Lee, Carrie Dean, and Joann, her granddaughter, Rajien Harmon.
She leaves to cherish wonderful memories: her sons, Anthony (Kim) Jones of Salisbury, Maryland and Deldin (Sharon) Harmon of Milton Delaware; daughter, Pandora (William II) Lloyd of Oahu, Hawaii; her bonus son, Jerome Coston; one sister, Linda Jones-Bailey of Norfolk, Virginia; two brothers, Andrew Jones of Exmore, Virginia and Bernard (Bop) Jones of Norfolk, Virginia; nine grandchildren, Jeremy Roberson of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Anthony Jones, Jr. of Laurel, Delaware, Jeliysa Wilson of Dover, Delaware, Deondre Jones of Longneck, Delaware, Jessica Griffin of Rehoboth, Delaware, Latoya Griffin of Lewis, Delaware, KeiAna Harmon of Chesapeake, Virginia, William Lloyd, III of Port Tobacco, Maryland and Paris Lloyd of Melbourne, Florida; two nieces, Qwaietta Jones of Dover, Delaware and Tonya Jones of Harevalley, Virginia; nephew, Tokeena Jones of Norfolk, Virginia; seventeen great grandchildren and a host of great nieces and nephews.
