Viola "Ann" Lee, born November 12, 1955, in Newark, NJ, brought light and laughter wherever she went. The beloved daughter of Willie Beatrice Booker and McKinley Lee (both preceding her in death), Ann's journey was marked by compassion, resilience, and a boundless love for family..
Ann's early years took her from Charity Jr. High to Wallace/Rosehill High School in North Carolina, where she forged lifelong friendships and a reputation for kindness. Her calling led her to serve as a Home Health Aide and Live-in Caregiver, roles in which she became a cherished companion to the aging and physically disabled. Ann's clients adored her, and her vibrant spirit made every space brighter.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughter, Shalanda Lee-Esserry, and three treasured grandsons: Komal Sharod, Nazzir Krishna, and Jeremiah Isaiah Keith Esserry. Ann's devotion to her family was unwavering.
Ann's memory will be cherished by her six sisters-Janett Miller (Mike Miller), Annette Reed, Judy Newkirk, Sheila Clark, Michelle Booker, and Deanna Booker; two brothers, Clifton Bryant and William Booker; and step-brother Preston Brinson. She is reunited in peace with her brothers Norman (Daniel) Brinson and Emanuel Brinson, niece Cherie L. Reed, and nephew Sharod Rawls.
Her legacy continues through a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom she loved deeply and who loved her just as fiercely-she was their biggest champion, always ready with "real talk," authenticity, and encouragement. Ann will be remembered as the life of every party, a creative force, and the connector who brought the family together. Her strength, vibrancy, and genuine love for her family and friends will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire all
