Viola Reyes Pacheco, 97 years old, of Walsenburg, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025.
Viola was born June 14, 1927, in North La Veta to Basilio and Natividad Herrera.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Claude Pacheco; her brothers; Antonio, Ray, Gilbert and John; and her sisters; Sylvia Fulks, Mercy (Ken) Warrner. She was also preceded by her grandchildren Michaela Medina and Zachary Tucker.
Survived by her children; Henry Pacheco, Alice (Herbert) Soto, Sam (Beverly) Pacheco, Debbie (Alan) Tucker and Laurie Pacheco.
Viola is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Viola was a devoted mom who cared for her family and was always helping on the ranch. She enjoyed rodeos, riding horses with her husband, participating in local parades. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, and enjoyed working with Senior Citizens.
She was a volunteer for the city of Walsenburg during voting registration, a Girl Scout Troop leader.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dutton and the staff of Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center, as well as Dr. Ahnemdo, and the entire staff on the 5th floor UCHealth Parkview Medical, for their devotion and care.
Services for Viola,
A viewing is scheduled for Thursday, February 27th 5 to 6pm at Boies-Ortega Funeral Home 115 E. 5th St. Walsenburg, Co. Friday, February 28, 2025, mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Walsenburg. The Rosary is at 9:30 am, with Mass beginning at 10 am. Interment will follow the service at North Veta Cemetery.
