Viola Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blaylock Funeral Home on Jan. 9, 2026.
Viola "Vi" Williams passed away January 6, 2026, in Brownwood, she was born to John and Barbara Permann Job, February 1, 1926, in Jamestown, North Dakota.

Vi attended Northwest College in Minnesota, where she met her beloved husband, Dick. As a pastor's wife, she helped with all aspects of the church life, while raising her four children. She worked for over 20 years as a nurse, working for the Brownwood Hospital and the Baptist Encampment. Vi loved to travel, read, do crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, sit in her favorite pew at church and laugh!

In 2011, she was awarded a Certificate of Special Recognition from the state for her invaluable service to the community. She was a volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary Club for 17 years. She was also a mentor for the Christian Women's Job Corps, worked many years for the Good Samaritan ministries and helped with Operation Christmas Children Org, traveling to Dallas and Denver several times to process Christmas Shoebox donations. Until her last weeks, she was still knitting scarves for the Seamon's Church for distribution at Christmas.

Vi's life exemplified her love for God and for people. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Vi is survived by daughters Joan Martin of New Braunfels, Gay Marie Isabel and husband Aaron of San Antonio and son Bruce Williams of Glen Rose, grandchildren Ashley, Ramsey, Tamara, Jacob and Marshall, great grandchildren Carter, Cooper, Grace and James.

She is preceded in death by her husband Richard "Dick" Williams, daughter Sandra Lee Williams and son James Richard Williams.

The family would like to thank Coggin Ave Baptist Church for their constant visits, and a special thanks to the Oak Ridge Manor for their loving care.
