Violet grew up in rural Union and Ringgold Counties and graduated from the Shannon City High School in Shannon City, Iowa.

Violet was united in marriage to George Leroy Allbaugh on July 18, 1948, in Shannon City, Iowa. They were blessed with four children, Cassandra, Bob, Steven and Mike. George enlisted with the United States Navy and at that time Violet was able to accompany him during their travels. His active duty time took them to California. Following his honorable discharge, they returned to Iowa. In 2014, Violet moved next to her son, Mike and his wife, Annie and while living there she enjoyed watching the cars go by from her garage.

Violet was a long-time manager at the Caseys Convenience Store. Beginning her career as a cashier and through the years worked her way up to management. After over 15 years at Caseys Violet then switched career paths began working at the Goldenrod Nursing Home in Clarinda assisting with the laundry. She worked well into her 80s but enjoyed being able to visit with the residents. Violet enjoyed playing cards with her family, mainly 10 and 15 point pitch. In their younger years, George and Violet went dancing and attended the Fireman's Ball.

Violet loved to sit out in the sun (the hotter the better) and watch people drive by and keep an eye on kids playing in the neighborhood. Violet had a small fishpond in her back yard containing goldfish and koi. She enjoyed watching them swim around and had a name for each of them.
