Violet Bradford Obituary
Violet (Hatfield) Bradford, also known to everyone as “Ma”, 88 of Wharncliffe, WV, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Ma was a homemaker and the mother of The Lighthouse Church of God of Gilbert Creek. She enjoyed spending her time with her family, church family, and working word search puzzles.
She was born on September 14, 1936, in Wharncliffe, WV and was the daughter of the late McKinley and Tennessee (Trent) Hatfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Gene Bradford; sons, Lyle, Dexter, Artie, and Quinn Bradford; daughter, Freda Gibson; two daughters-in-law, Donna Bradford, and Yvonne Bradford; brothers, Dennis, Columbus, James, Raymond, and Kenneth Ray Hatfield; and a special nephew, David “Buck” Hatfield.
Those left to cherish her loving memory includes her sons, Pastor Winfred (Sissy) Bradford of Gilbert Creek, WV, Pastor Alford (Tammy) Bradford of Grafton, WV, and Pastor Doyle (Toni) Bradford of Bluefield, WV; special daughter-in-law and caregiver, Sherry Bradford of Wharncliffe, WV; grandchildren, Heath (Valerie) Bradford, Tina (Kevin) Dockstader, Johnathan (Valerie) Bradford, Charity (Steven) Walls, Larry (Kathy) Gibson, Brooke (Billy) Bailey, Lexi Bradford, Savannah (Silas) Nutter, Aaron (Renee), Brian, Rebekah, Josh (Comet), Daisean (Angelica), Shaide, and Willow Bradford, Taylor (Deven) Warfield, Michael (Kelly) Harris, Michelle (Jason) Dooney, Skyler (Rose) Burgess, and Bonnie Ferrell; great grandchildren, Donavan Bailey, Jeanna Bradford, Lacey, Willow, Kingson, and Selah Walls, Stormi Roberts, Penelope Bradford, Shayla and Cheyenne Bradford, Megan (Dylan) Hager, Tyler (Melissa) Dockstader, Bruce and Emma Dooney, Lemaris Anes, and Haley (James) Mounts; special caregiver, Sheila Nelson; and a host of other family and friends who will all love and miss her.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday, January 17, 2025, at The Lighthouse Church of God of Gilbert Creek with special singing starting at 7:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 18, 2025, at the church with her son, Pastor Winfred Bradford officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens in Godby, WV. Pallbearers will include: Donavan Bailey, Heath Bradford, Johnathan Bradford, Kevin Dockstader, Steven Walls, and Brian Bradford. Honorary pallbearers will include: Skyler Burgess, Aaron Bradford, Jason Dooney, Daisean Bradford, and Billy Bailey.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Collins Funeral Home, Inc. of Switzer, WV.
