Violet Clark Obituary

Violet grew up in Decatur, Illinois and was a graduate of Lakeview High School. After being in the food service industry for over 50 years, she retired from the MWR at the Elizabeth City USCG Base giving her time to focus on her grandchildren. Being a grandmother was one of the most important parts of Violet's life, a role that gave her much pride and joy. She was an excellent mamaw, supportive, kind, hilarious, and witty.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie I. Clark; two children, Paul D. Poe and Suzanne L. Poe; siblings, Carla Ray Waugh, Lucille Pearl "Babe" Drone, Carl Raymond "Butch" Waugh III and James Trenton "Jim" Waugh.
She is survived by many loving individuals, including her siblings, John Trotter Waugh (Phyllis) of Las Vegas, NV, Gwendolyn Sue "Suzi" Niblock (David) and Magdolyn Elizabeth "Sug" Grossi (Robert) of Palm Desert, CA; children, Judith Ludford (Buzzy) of Camden, NC, Terry J. Wilson (Dustin) of Elizabeth City, NC, Elizabeth C. Gray (Jimmy) of Elizabeth City, NC, Charles T. Clark (Donna)of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Christopher Poe, Rachel Poe, Amanda Whately, Charles Clark, Patrick Garrett, Hanna and Zoie Gray, Kiley, Chad and Tatum Wilson, Matthew and Leah Edgar, Brandi Jordan and Kim Jackson; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many amazing nieces and nephews.
Violet requested a celebration of life be held in her honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We are working on getting the celebration planned and will update our family and friends with that information as soon as we have it. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in memory of Violet.
