Violet Elaine Hall, age 90, died on March 25, 2024 with her husband at her side. She was the daughter of Lewis and Opal Wescoat of Stapleton, Nebraska, growing up on a farm west of Stapleton, Nebraska with her brothers Harold and Howard and her sister Esther. She was surrounded by extended family with her grandparents, Merritt and Serena Bakewell, and her cousins, Marian, Judy, and Arlene Bakewell living nearby. She attended Loup Valley School, Stapleton High School, and then Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney, Nebraska. Violet met the love of her life on a blind date, set up by her sister, Esther. Violet married Robert Hall on August 17, 1952, welcoming their daughter, Christy, the following year. Violet was crowned as Mrs. North Platte in 1953, going on to compete for Mrs. Nebraska. The young family moved from Nebraska to Montana, Nevada, California, and finally settling in Colorado in 1963.
Violet worked for Martin-Marietta as a publishing manager, creating proposals to bid for contracts. After retirement from Martin, Violet volunteered in the first-grade classroom to assist struggling students reach reading grade level. She did this until the schools closed for in-person instruction in 2020. Violet loved working with the children and seeing their academic success.
Violet is survived by her husband, Bob, their daughters, Christy Kennedy of Sedalia, CO, and Laurel Golden of Costa Mesa, CA, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Harold and Howard, and her sister, Esther.
Violet and Bob celebrated over 71 years of marriage and she will be greatly missed by her husband and all of her family.
Funeral services will take place at Horan and McConaty in Centennial, CO at 5303 E. County Line Road on April 17 at 10:30 a.m. Burial service to follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 So. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO.
