Violet Caroline Peterson

Violet Caroline Peterson, age 88 of Bemidji went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Tamarack Court in Bemidji, Minnesota.
Her celebration of life will be at 11am on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Bemidji with Pastor Todd Ertsgaard and Pastor Terry Bernstrom officiating. A visitation will be for one and a half hour prior to the service.
Violet was born on November 30, 1935 to Albert and Hilda Johnson in Bemidji, MN. Mom grew up in the Lavinia area and attended a one room schoolhouse. In her early teens mom worked for Johnson Corner Drug, working at the soda counter. She loved spending time with her brothers and sisters and truly cherished each and every one of them. For mom, family was everything. She met and dated Gordy Peterson and they were married on April 12, 1952 in Bemidji. Together they bought their first and only home where they raised their four children. Faith and family were always most important to her. Mom was a faithful member of the Covenant Church and taught Sunday school for twenty-five years. She loved her church family. Mom loved her garden and always had beautiful flowers. She was an excellent cook and loved to bake. Mom made sure we had fresh baked treats waiting for us after school. We all enjoyed her famous "grandmas hot dish" and her infamous 'soup on a plate'. She loved to cook for the family, especially her weekly Tuesday lunches that she would provide for anyone who chose to stop by. Over the years, she provided daycare to numerous children who all called her 'Grandma Violet' and she treated them as her own. Mom always enjoyed numerous family gatherings and cherished her family dearly.
She is survived by her children; Dennis (Nancy) Peterson, Donnie (Carol) Peterson, Jeanne (Jeff) Crowser, and Janet (Brian) Merschman all of Bemidji. Grandchildren; Glory (Chris) Loebs, Michael (Rachel) Blodgett, Aaron (Jamie) Peterson, Joshua Peterson, Jayson (Kait) Peterson and JaMae (Tanner) Olson. She was also blessed with ten great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, fourteen brothers and sisters.
Active Pallbearers are her Grandchildren; Glory Loebs, Michael Blodgett, Aaron Peterson, Joshua Peterson, Jayson Peterson, JaMae Olson and also Chris Loebs and Tony Merschman.
Honorary Pallbearers are her Great Grandchildren; Koston, Ashton, Abby, Adam, Anthony, Charlie, Violet, Iris, Wren and Cru.
Interment will be Greenwood Cemetery, Bemidji, Minnesota.
We are so thankful, with heartfelt appreciation for Shirley and the amazing staff at Tamarack Court for their special care of Mom during this difficult time. They treated her as their own and we are forever grateful to them.
