Violet Prokop Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCrery & Harra Funeral Home and Crematory - Concord Pike on Mar. 29, 2026.
Violet Prokop, born February 24, 1927, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Violet was a devoted wife to her late husband, Joe, and a nurturing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was centered on caring for others

She is lovingly survived by her children: Jean Willis and her spouse Randy, John Prokop and his spouse Dina, and Sue Martell and her spouse Mark. Violet was a proud and devoted grandmother to Emily, Brad, Erik, Amanda, Bret, and Zander, and a cherished great-grandmother to Julianna and Jackson, all of whom brought her immense joy.

Violet dedicated many years of her life to nursing, a profession that perfectly reflected her compassionate nature. She especially treasured her time as a Labor and Delivery nurse, where she had the privilege of helping bring new life into the world-an experience that remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Violet was an avid knitter and crocheter, creating beautiful handmade gifts for everyone she loved. Each piece she made was a reflection of her generosity and care, and her family will forever treasure the warmth of those creations.

Violet was also known for her incredible cooking and baking. For many years, she hosted large holiday gatherings, preparing meals with all the fixings including multiple desserts, ensuring no one ever left her table hungry. Even after she stopped hosting at the age of 68, she continued her tradition by bringing dishes-most notably her baked ham and homemade pierogies-and always insisting on helping clean up.

Violet's legacy is one of love, selflessness, and devotion to family. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will live in her family making her recipes and the lives she touched.

At the request of their mother, her children are honoring her wishes and services will be private.
