Michael William Prokop

Michael William Prokop, 74, of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the Serenity Hospice Unit at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton.
Born in South Ozone Park, New York, Michael was raised in New York and attended Queens College and The City College of New York earning his Bachelor's Degree. Michael resided in Rochester, NY and Jackson, NJ, before settling in Hamilton in 1983. He was a business machine technician for Eastman Kodak, Danka Office Imaging, and concluded his career with Toshiba. A gifted technician, Michael was promoted to management and chose to return to his passion being a client technician for the South Jersey and Pennsylvania regions, retiring in 2013.
Michael was passionately involved with model railroading. He created elaborate rail systems in his home and in his yard. He belonged to National Modeling Railroad Association (NMRA) and served on the board of the National Modeling Railroad Association. Michael was a respected speaker and thought leader at railroading conventions.
Predeceased by his parents, Archie and Catherine (Brown) Prokop; Michael is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Margery (Polla) Prokop; his children and their spouses, Stephanie and Douglas Byrd, and Michael J. and Ashley Prokop; his grandchildren, Hunter William and Lila May Prokop; and his sister, Diane Ragonnet.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m.
Private cremation will follow.
