Virgie Mary King, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on December 18, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on August 6, 1937, in Elgin, TN, Virgie lived a life marked by simplicity and profound love for her family.
Virgie was married to her devoted husband, Delmar, in 1955, and together they created a nurturing home filled with warmth and laughter. As a homemaker, she dedicated herself to the care of her family, particularly her son Dean, for over 37 years. Her love for her children, daughter Debra (late Keith) Bailey and sons Daniel and Dean (Donna) King, extended to her grandchildren, seven in total, as well as her cherished 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Virgie is also survived by her two brothers and one sister, who will carry on her legacy of love.
A simple person at heart, Virgie found joy in the little things, such as crocheting or listening to her favorite country and gospel music. Her gentle spirit and kind nature left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
The family will honor her memory with a funeral service on December 23, 2025, at Evans Funeral Home in Goshen, beginning at 12:30 PM, preceded by a visitation at 12:00 PM. Virgie will be laid to rest following the service at Goshen Cemetery.
As we remember Virgie, let us carry forward the love and warmth she so generously shared with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
Virgie was preceded in death by her husband Delmar King, her parents; Clarence Shoemaker and Gertie Shoemaker, her son-in-law; Keith Bailey as well as 1 brother and 2 sisters.
