Virgil Duane Byl, age 81, peacefully passed away on June 22, 2023. He was born at home on December 30, 1941, in Aplington, Iowa, to Francis and Laura Byl. Virgil was married in 1963 to Karol, whom he met at the grocery store in Wellsburg, Iowa. They shared a beautiful marriage for 59 years. He worked as a machinist for Fisher Controls in Marshalltown, Iowa, retiring after 40 years of service.
Virgil's dream of owning a farm was realized by purchasing an acre of land in Wellsburg. He enjoyed helping multiple farmers by baling hay, shelling corn, picking corn & many other farm related jobs that neighboring farmers needed a hand to accomplish. He enjoyed working by mowing lawns in the summer, pushing snow in the winter, and raising cattle and pigs. His favorite pastime was visiting farmers, going to sales and visiting with people that may have a need for one of the treasures he had purchased at local sales.
Left to cherish his loving memory and celebrate Virgil's life is his wife, Karol Byl, his son David Byl (Lori) and his daughter Diane Wells (Joseph). Other surviving family members, are his brother Vern Byl (Jean), his sister Julie Gladdin and brother Roger Byl (Karla) and nieces and nephews and one grandchild (Mason).
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Laura Byl.
Virgil touched countless lives in his 81 years with us here on earth. May we strive to carry on his loving spirit and lasting legacy.
