Virgil Brooks Eubanks, Jr., 64, of Dayton, Texas, passed away surrounded by his family and friends on Thursday, July 3, 2025, in New Braunfels, Texas. Virgil was born on January 7, 1961, in Lake Providence, Arkansas, to the late Virgil Brooks Eubanks, Sr. and Ellen Ruth Randall Eubanks.

Virgil, known to many as a jokester with a big heart, was truly one of a kind. He had a laid-back nature, a quick wit, and a gift for storytelling that could light up any room. He was happy-go-lucky and never met a stranger. He found joy in the simple things in life-watching Gunsmoke, cheering on his beloved Astros, and spending time at the VFW with good friends. He had a soft spot for sports, whether watching a game or participating in turkey shoots and BBQ cook-offs. He especially loved playing softball and was known for his skills on the mound as a pitcher.

Though he loved hunting, he rarely pulled the trigger-he just enjoyed the experience of being outdoors. Fishing, however, was always fair game. He enjoyed the peacefulness of the water and the camaraderie it brought.

Virgil was a proud and accomplished master electrician, dedicating much of his life to his trade. He worked for Brown & Root for 28 years, Wingo for 5 years, and Oxy for 10 years before retiring. Throughout his career, his work ethic, expertise, and dependability earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Alfred Eubanks, Randy Eubanks, and Sandra Sebren.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 44 years, Suzzan Eubanks of Dayton, Texas; his daughter, Elizabeth Stephenson and husband Rick of Dayton, Texas; his granddaughters, Ashlyn, Kayla, and Jacie Stephenson, who were the light of his life; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main St., Dayton, Texas 77535.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, with Pastor Howie Howeth officiating. A graveside and committal service will follow at Palms Memorial Park.

Virgil's legacy will live on in every story told, every smile shared, and every heart he touched.
