Virgil Ophus, age 82, of Apple Valley, MN, passed away on Saturday, October 19th, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, MN. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1st, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston with Pastor Seth Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Mamre Cemetery, rural Fosston. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are with Carlin Family Funeral Service of Fosston and messages of condolence may be shared at www.carlinfuneral.com. All are welcome to join family for a luncheon at Bethel Assembly Church immediately following services and burial.
Virgil was born in Fargo, North Dakota on July 31st, 1942 to Ray Ophus and Ruth Ophus. Virgil married Betty Ophus on July 2, 1971 in Ortonville, MN. The couple had 3 children, Timothy Ophus, Paul Ophus, and Andrew Ophus. They then moved to Apple Valley, MN and raised their family. Virgil enjoyed traveling and discovering more about his family heritage. He was very successful in his career at the Met Stadium and later the Metrodome. Virgil was best known for being a servant of the lord.
Virgil is survived by his three sons- Timothy Ophus (Jen), Paul Ophus (Nancy), and Andrew Ophus and 4 grandchildren- Haylee (Bridger) Hahn, Paige Ophus, Karly Ophus, and Evan Ophus. Also survived by his 2 sisters-in-laws Eva Raasch (Garrett Raasch), Shirley Smith and brothers Doug Ophus, Duane Ophus, and sister-in-law Joan Ophus.
He was preceded in death by Betty Ophus (Spouse), Eugene Smith (Brother-in-law), James Ophus (Brother), Maxine Ophus (Sister-in-law), Thelma Jones (Mother-in-law), Earl Jones (Father-in-law), Ray Ophus (Father), Ruth Ophus (Mother).
All are welcome to join family for a luncheon at Bethel Assembly Church immediately following services and burial.
