Virgil M. Wade

Virgil Mac Wade, 85, died Sunday, December 7, 2025, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hughes and Wright Funeral Home, followed by burial at Zion Hope Cemetery in Arabi, GA.
Virgil was born in Arabi, GA, to the late Jessie Burnard Wade and the late Inez Perry Wade. He was the widower of Carol Elizabeth Cook Wade. A retired aircraft mechanic for Eastern Airlines, he also served his country as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his sister, Jacquelyn W. Walters of Cordele; nieces Tracy Gladney of Cordele and Kathy Johnson of Arabi, GA; two great nieces; and two great nephews. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Christopher M. Walters, and his step daughter, Beth Smith. He is also survived by his step son in law, David Smith, of Cordele. Other survivors include: stepchildren, Ronnie Register of Cochran, GA, and Jamie Register of Cordele; stepchildren from a previous marriage, Phill Smith of Royston, GA; Susan Smith of Asheville, NC; Lee Ellen Smith of Ocala, FL; Dave Smith of Newnan, GA; and Cathy Deak of Anchorage, AK; and several step grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
