Our Family Matriarch Virginia S. Abilez age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday December 19, 2025 in El Paso, Texas.
Virginia dedicated many years of her professional life to public service. She worked at White Sands Missile Range and later continued her career in civil service at Fort Bliss, from which she proudly retired. Her commitment, work ethic, and sense of duty were hallmarks of her career and life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Petra Saucedo, brothers Enrique and Pedro Saucedo Jr. and sister Mary Valles along with her beloved husband Bilisario V. Abilez Sr, sons Bilisario Abilez Jr, and Peter Andrew Abilez Sr.
She is survived by her loving children Daniel Abilez, Anthony Abilez, Rene Abilez Sr, and daughter Elizabeth Abilez. Along with her sister Delia Ramirez and her brother Jesus Saucedo and many grandchildren and great grandchildren who will cherish her memory.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM with a Celebration of Life from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, Monday, January 5, 2026 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson.
Pallbearers will be Rene Abilez Sr, Rene Kala Abilez Jr, Everett Saucedo, Peter Abilez Jr, William Joseph Abilez and Herbert Murillo IV. Honorary Pallbearers; Anthony Abilez, Jesus Saucedo, Christopher Ramirez and Alfonso Ramirez.
The family would like to thank Remarkable Hospice and the ICU unit at Del Sol Medical Center with a special thanks to RRT NPS Anthony Cuellar.
Virginia will be remembered for her strength, devotion to her family, and lifelong service to her community and country. Her legacy lives on through those who loved her.
