Virginia Gail Baker McDaniel

I am pleased to present the obituary for Virginia Gail Baker McDaniel, whose life was a testament to love, family, and cherished moments.Virginia Gail Baker McDaniel, known affectionately as Gail, was born on June 2, 1954, in Hazard Kentucky. She peacefully passed away on July 19, 2024 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Gail's life was marked by her dedication as a loving homemaker. Her passion for cooking, canning, and cleaning brought warmth and comfort to all who knew her. She found joy in simple pleasures like spending time at the beach and most of all, in the company of her family, especially her treasured grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Corbin & Faye Hensley Baker, her loving and devoted husband, Dan McDaniel, and two special brothers, Ricky Lee and Corbin Jr. Gail leaves behind a legacy of love that will be carried on by her surviving family and friends. Among them are her four cherished sons: Bracky Fugate (Miranda), William Fugate (Jamie), David Fugate, and Steve McDaniel; two cherished daughters: Kim Cornett (Dale) and Leeann Hatcher (James); two special brothers: Paul Baker (Arlene) and David Wayne Baker (Ruby); eight treasured grandchildren: Tyler Cornett, Brandon Fugate, Hayden Fugate, Raygen Fugate, Eden Fugate, Aleigha Fugate, James Michael Stidham, and Mason Hatcher; two special aunts: Betty Napier and Barbara Sams; special nephews, Dusty Baker(Ashleigh) and Timothy Baker(Maddie), special nieces, April Dixon(Scott) and Holly Withrow(Anthony), as well as a special friend Ruby Cornett. Additionally, she is survived by a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who were touched by her kindness.

A Funeral Service to honor Gail's life will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Walker Funeral Home in Hyden, Kentucky. The service will begin at 1:00 PM with Danny Day, Harold Turner and Paul Baker officiating. Interment will follow at the Hensley-Baker Family Cemetery at Wooton, KY. The following will serve as pallbearers: Dusty Baker, Timothy Baker, Hayden Fugate, Brandon Fugate and Steve McDaniel. Visitation will be Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 6:00-9:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home Chapel.

In every meal cooked with love and every moment spent with family under the sun's warm embrace at the beach, Gail McDaniel's spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace knowing that she was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
