Virginia Louise "Ginger" Beugless, age 90, passed away peacefully March 1, 2026, leaving behind a life defined by creativity, friendship, resilience, and a deep love for family.
Ginger was born in
Beverly, New Jersey, on May 18, 1935, the youngest of three children born to Virginia Williamson Beugless and Anthony (Dean) Beugless. She was raised in Rochester, New York, where she graduated from Brighton High School. From an early age, Ginger embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. She developed a deep love for the arts, nature, and animals, often spending time climbing trees and exploring the outdoors. Long before it was common for girls to play competitive sports, she found her place on the soccer field serving as goalie for her high school team.
Her passion for art followed her into adulthood as she became an accomplished artist. Ginger earned a degree in Fine Arts and began her professional career with the advertising firm Rumrill-Hoyt in Rochester, New York. In 1972, she moved to Seattle, Washington, where she worked at KING Television. Seattle soon became her home. She later returned to the advertising agency side of the media business where she was the Media Director at Associated Grocers managing and buying advertising time. During this time, she formed lifelong friendships, including with dear friends Hubie and Tyrone.
Ginger grew to love the beauty of the Pacific Northwest, and some of her happiest memories were made traveling throughout the region and beyond with friends she met there, including Ali Wright. She also enjoyed traveling the country in her camper, often accompanied by her beloved cats. A devoted cat lover, Ginger always had at least one feline companion by her side - Dusty being one of those special companions.
A breast cancer survivor, Ginger faced her diagnosis with strength and courage. During her surgery and treatments, she was lovingly supported by her neighbor and dear friend Tom Poe and his daughter, Vicki. Their care and friendship remained a treasured part of her life.
Ginger also dedicated much of her time to serving others. She volunteered with the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance for more than twenty years, often volunteering alongside Tom Poe. She also volunteered with the Seattle Theatre Group, where she ushered and enjoyed many performances. One of her favorites was the Christmas production of The Nutcracker, which she never tired of seeing.
Though she did not have children of her own, Ginger shared a special bond with her extended family and treasured the time spent with her many nieces and nephews, as well as their children and grandchildren. In the final years of her life, she was lovingly cared for by her nephew, James Simpson Williams Jr., and his wife, Gayle, in
Cleveland, Ohio.
Ginger is survived by her nieces and nephews: Wynn Beugless-Dunn (Calvin), Jody Beck, Robin Beugless, Dana Beugless-Spies (Tom), Anthony Dean Beugless, James Simpson Williams Jr. (Gayle), Timothy Ward Williams (Betsy), Leigh Mayo Williams, Alexander Dean Williams (Courtney), and Henry Ward Williams (Maureen); along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind dear lifelong friends, including Tom Poe and her special caregiver and friend, Betty Palchescko.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia Williamson Beugless and Frances Beugless; her brother, Anthony Dean Beugless; and her sister, Joan Beugless Williams and her dear friend Ali Wright.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Seattle, Washington.
Ginger will be remembered for her artistic spirit, adventurous nature, and the warmth and kindness she shared with those around her. Her love of the arts, travel, animals, and family will remain a lasting part of her legacy.
