Virginia A. Brennan, age 95, lifelong resident of Shelton, entered into rest on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Montowese Health Care in North Haven. Virginia was born in Shelton on January 3, 1930, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Tracy) Brennan.
She was a graduate of SCSU and was a teacher in Orange Public Schools. She spent over 30 years at Mary L. Tracy Elementary School and Turkey Hill School before her retirement. Virginia was very devout in her Catholic faith and she was involved in many charities, providing educational opportunities. She was also an avid golfer and longtime member of Racebrook Country Club.
She is survived by her nephew, Thomas (Tommy) Brennan, and his wife, Maria, of Branford, CT, great-nieces, Tracy Hunt (Dan) of Ellington, CT and Jennifer Brennan (Kenneth Benoit) of Meriden, CT, and great-great-niece, Kinsley Hunt, who all lovingly referred to her as Aunt Timmie. Virginia held a special place in many people's hearts and built lifelong friendships with many that felt like family; she is also survived by close friends, Alyce Merwin, Dorthy Berger, Helen Sargent, and Barbara Roman. Virginia was predeceased by her brother, Robert J. Brennan, and her sister, Sr. Barbara Brennan OP.
Friends are invited to greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 4 to 7 PM. On Saturday, her procession will leave the parlor at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at St. Joseph Church, in Shelton. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter's Cemetery, in Derby.
Memorial contributions are encouraged to Sacred Heart Academy, in Hamden, and Notre Dame High School, in Fairfield.
