Virginia Ann Bridges was born on October 18, 1926 in Jasper County, MS to Neville and Daisy Reeves McCree. Virginia graduated from New Augusta High School, where she played basketball.   However, her true passion in life was her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, dedicating herself to being involved in every aspect of their lives as her boys grew up.

Virginia's legacy as an outstanding cook remains etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her kitchen was a place of gathering, laughter, and love, where she shared her passion for cooking with her loved ones. Her fried chicken, along with her spaghetti and meatballs were family favorites and her sons declare that her dressing was the best around.  These, along with her pies, and chocolate cakes were not just dishes but manifestations of her affection and care for her family.

One of Virginia's proudest accomplishments was her beautifully manicured yard. She took great pride in maintaining its impeccable appearance, spending hours mowing, edging, and tending to her flowers of every variety. Her green thumb and attention to detail did not go unnoticed by those around her.  Mrs. Bridges was a member of Prentiss Baptist Church.

Virginia Ann Bridges will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edward “Buck” Bridges; grandson, Robbie Bridges; great-grandson, Cade Bridges and her brothers, Troy McCree, Vernon McCree and N.D. McCree.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her sons, Don (Wynn) Bridges of Hattiesburg, Ricky (Charlotte) Bridges of Leakesville, David Earl (Julie) Bridges of Efland, NC and her sister, Myrtle Merrill of New Augusta.  Mrs. Bridges also leaves behind her grandchildren, Whitney Graves, Zachary Bridges, Seth Bridges, Rick Bridges, Dalee Criddle, Brandon Coleman, Lauren Coleman, Harley Bridges, Donnie Bridges and Brooke Theobald and her great-grandchildren, Sydney Bridges, Karri Bridges, Jaxon LeBlanc, Jolee LeBlanc, Jase LeBlanc, J.J. LeBlanc, Dylan Gatwood, Eli Sanford, Brooklyn Graves, Madison Bridges, Samantha Bridges, Riley Bridges, Reed Bridges, Rose Bridges, Emma Theobald, Porter Theobald and an expected great-great granddaughter, Mavis Ann Gatwood.
