Virginia "Ginny" Bryan, a longtime resident of Erath County, passed away peacefully in her loving home on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the age of 79, after bravely battling cancer, where she beat all odds.
Virginia's beautiful life began in Coleman, Texas, on December 30, 1944. She was born to Walter Allen King and Gladys (Farrar) King. She spent her childhood living in several towns along the Santa Fe rail line between Coleman and Cleburne, Texas. In high school, she was crowned Lions Club Queen of Stephenville and went on to represent Stephenville in further competitions at the Baker Hotel. She graduated with the class of 1963 from Stephenville High School.
She married the love of her life, Wayne Bryan, in 1963, and together they cherished their two beloved children, Kenny and Angela. Her garden was a source of deep peace and fulfillment, lovingly nurtured with plants started by her mother, Gladys, and passed down from her in-laws, making it a true family treasure. She found particular joy in the yearly visits of hummingbirds, whose presence brought her garden to life.
Virginia led worship through singing and playing the piano at Huckabay Baptist Church for many years. A lover of simple blessings, she began each day with coffee and scripture. She battled on the front lines every day by anointing her loved ones in prayer. Virginia cherished making memories with her family, and her warmth and kindness touched everyone she met.
Virginia will be fondly remembered for her true servant's heart. She had an intuitive gift for recognizing the emotional needs of others, especially children with special needs. She worked with these children for over thirty years as a teacher's aide. She was described by her loved ones as a natural counselor, who had a special gift for providing an empathetic, listening ear and a safe space for others.
Virginia's legacy lives on through her children, Kenny Bryan and wife Angie of Huckabay, Texas, and Angela Bush of Hamilton, Texas; her grandchildren, Katie Bryan of Stephenville, Texas, Josh Bryan of Huckabay, Texas, Chelsea Ussery and partner Carl Gunnels of Burnet, Texas, Matthew Ussery, Alaina Ussery, and Garrett Ussery and partner Bea Nguyen of Hamilton, TX; her great-grandchildren, Bryson Ussery, and Brandr Raney of Burnet, Texas; and her siblings, Reba Brandon of Lingleville, TX, Shirley Murphy of Bonham, TX, and Carrell King of Harvey, Arkansas.
Virginia is proceeded to heaven by her husband, Wayne Bryan in 1985, and siblings Alta, Wanda, Wynoma, Leonard, Louis, and Hazel, now reunited with those who came before her, leaving behind a legacy of love and remembrance.
Services for Virginia Bryan will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Lacy Funeral Home with Weldon Branham officiating. Burial will follow at Huckabay Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Lacy Funeral Home.
To her loved ones, she never said goodbye without saying, 'I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.' This loving farewell will be deeply missed.
