Virginia Copas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home - West Union on Feb. 13, 2026.
Virginia Louise Copas (Staten), age 88, of West Union, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, surrounded by her family at the Ohio Valley Manor.

Virginia was born to the late Edmond Dee Staten and Hazel Staten. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dewey Copas, and her siblings, Rosemary Staggs, Kenneth Staten, John Dee Staten, Martha Hayslip, Emily Brown, and David Staten.

She is survived by her loving children, Randy Copas (Cheryl) and Sandy Hanson (Mike); her siblings, Oliver Staten and Beulah Ayers; and her grandchildren, Chris Hanson, Bethany Jolly (Emmanuel), Philip Copas (Brittany), Jason Hanson (Brittany), Ashley Reinhart (Brett), and Amber Burton (Joey). She also leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren, Kyler and Macen Grooms, Cora Copas, Randilynn Copas, Jada Hanson, and Carson Reinhart.

Virginia dedicated her working life to the medical field, serving others with compassion and care until the age of 75. Her career reflected the same servant's heart that defined her life.

She was a devoted member of East Liberty Church and a faithful, God-fearing woman who lived her life rooted in Christ. Virginia believed deeply in family and was unwaveringly dedicated to those she loved. She will always be remembered as someone who made sure no one ever left her home hungry, and that everyone around her felt cared for and welcome.

Above all, Virginia treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, faithfully attending church, and staying closely connected with her family, especially through long, meaningful phone conversations with her sisters.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home in West Union, Ohio with Jason Hayslip officiating. Burial services will follow at West Union Cemetery. Services are entrusted to the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home.

Virginia Louise Copas leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, hospitality, and unwavering love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
