Virginia C. Dodds (nee Grupe), 80, of Sandusky, passed away Monday, December 29, 2025, at Firelands Regional Medical Center Main Campus following a brief illness.
She was born February 12, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, and had been a Sandusky resident for the past 16 years after moving from Cleveland.
Virginia worked as a bookkeeper for Home Depot for 10 years, retiring in 2010. She was known for her generous heart and giving spirit, dedicating countless hours volunteering with Care and Share of Erie County and Viewpoint. She deeply cherished the friendships and sense of community that volunteering brought into her life.
Above all else, Virginia was a devoted mother and grandmother who thought the world of her family. Her love, kindness, and friendship will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Mark (Meghan) Dodds and Walter (Erin) Dodds; her grandchildren, Michael, McKenna, Blake, Spencer, Emily, Devin, Dylan, and Andrew; her brother, Raymond (Linda) Grupe; and her nephews, Raymond and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter J. Dodds, who passed away in 1992, and her parents, Alva and Dorothy Grupe (nee Schade).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 10 am at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Parish, 4423 Pearl Road, Cleveland, OH 44109. Burial and reception following, inurnment will be held at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Care and Share of Erie County, 241 Jackson St., Sandusky, OH 44870.
