It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our mother, Virginia May Eckberg (Peacock). Virginia was 91 years old, born in Barberton, Ohio to Wilbur and Beaulah Peacock, on January 15, 1933. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey R. Eckberg Jr; her two sons Robert (Bob) Eckberg and Mark Eckberg; grandson, Devin Eckberg; parents Wilbur and Beaulah Peacock; and sister Joan Pollak.
She is survived by three of her five children, James Eckberg, Karen Horvath (Eckberg) and Kimberly Eckberg; grandchildren Daniel (Rachel), Ryan (Katie), Christina (Rob), Nicole (Dale), Erika (Maddie) and James (Caitlynn); and nine great grandchildren. Virginia is also survived by many other family members, friends and the multiple children she took care of through the years.
The family would like to thank all the staff of the Summa Health Geriatric Medicine Facility, Dr. Drost and all the Nurse Practitioners and the Hospice Staff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Lutheran Church, 999 Portage Lakes Dr. Akron, Ohio 44319.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 7:00 pm at Prentice Funeral Home, 1154 Kenmore Blvd, Akron, Ohio. Pastor Kosak, officiating. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 5:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Greenlawn Memorial Park at 11:00 am
