David "Scott" Smoot, 71, of Akron, passed away on November 26, 2025. He was born on June 25, 1954 to the late James W. and Reta J. {Johnson} Smoot.
In addition to his parents, Scott was preceded in death by his brother Danny Smoot; sister-in-law Olga Smoot.
Scott is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Eileen; daughters, Julie (Ryan) Vandegrift and Jessica (Austin) DiMichele; grandchildren Antonio (Cadence "Constance, Caitlyn, Connie") Smoot, Noah Vandegrift, Eleanor Vandegrift, John DiMichele, Vincent DiMichele, Isabella Hopkins; siblings Jimmy (Diane) Smoot, Fred Smoot, Stephanie (Mark) Robertson, Jeff (Nancy) Smoot and Kelly (David) Drayer and their families.
Scott liked Western movies, enjoying the outdoors, especially fishing and camping and listening to music on the front porch. He was a fan of blues music, a cold beer, and a good ol' "Smoot Salute."
Family and friends are invited to visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305 on Wednesday, December 3rd from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service that begins at 3:00 p.m. Following services, Scott will be cremated.
