Virginia Mae Egeler-Markle 79 of Kalamazoo passed away Saturday August 26, 2023 at Kairos Dwelling. Virginia was born November 26, 1943 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Leonard and Virginia “Jean” (Olson) Born. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Savior and worked as a baker for Borgess and Bronson Hospitals where she was known as the cake lady, as well as running a daycare in her home. Virginia was an avid bowler and went to several national tournaments; she enjoyed collecting elephant figurines and being a member of TOPS and especially family parties.  Her favorite word was BELIEVE. She was united in marriage to Dale Egeler, Thomas “Ed” Joyce who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Leonard Born; sister; Josie Born. Surviving are her husband, Conrad “Sonny” Markle; three children, Teresa (Bill Rosol) Rietkerk, Dale (Tami) Egeler, Angela Kindig; brother, Roger White; six grandchildren, Westley (Melanie) Rietkerk, Mindy Rietkerk, Austin “AJ” (Andrea) Egeler, Alexandra (Nate) Egeler, Laurie Egeler, Lilly Walters; three great-grandchildren, Odin, Bryn, Jillian; best friends, Dee LaPlante, Linda Davies; brother-in-law, Robert Markle; sister’s-in-law, Debbie Schoonhoven, Sharon Carr, Alvera Lewis, Diane Reau, Debbie Bartlett;  several nieces & nephews. Friends will be received 6-8 pm August 29, 2023 and Wednesday 11 am – 12 pm at Parchment Redmond Funeral Home. Services will be held 12 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in East Cooper Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Kairos Dwelling or West Michigan Cancer Center. www.redmondfuneralhomes.net
