Virginia Ellenberg Obituary
January 14, 1935 - September 19, 2025
Virginia Lee Ellenberg "Lee," born January 14, 1935, in Atlantic City, N.J., passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025. Lee is survived by her son, Fred; daughters, Christine, Teri and Jennifer; her grandchildren, Rick, Danielle, Evanne, Taylor and Sydney; and her great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Tyler and Dylan. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred and her son, Matthew. Lee was a bright light in many lives. She raised five children, obtained her college degree, and taught first and second grade for 17 years. She loved birding and volunteered at the Forsythe Wildlife Refuge. She also volunteered at the Atlantic County Historical Society. She watched her granddaughter Evanne every day after school. She had great faith and was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows church in Linwood. She was an avid gardener and belonged to the Linwood Garden Club. She also participated in the American Association of University Women.
The funeral will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 724 Maple Ave, Linwood, NJ, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 27th. Visitation will be held at the church at 10:30 a.m. Immediately preceding the funeral. Burial will follow in the Richard Squires Atlantic County Veteran's Cemetery. Although Lee's physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.

I worked very closely with Lee as part of the Atlantic Audubon Society Board of Directors. She was a special person and so kind and giving to everyone. She will surely be missed by all of her friends at Atlantic Audubon Society. My condolences to the family.

Lee was special. Loved nature .especially going birding with myself and other Atlantic Audubon and Forsythe people. She also enjoyed music concerts with us. Season tickets together at Stockton.. she is with God. Blessings to you Lee you will not be forgotten.

I have many special memories of the Ellenberg family as a friend of Jennifer. I remember Mrs. Ellenberg smiling and singing as she went around the house doing daily chores. She was a very warm and friendly person!
