Cobleskill- Virginia "Ginnie" F. Fernandez, 97, most recently of Woodland Drive, Cobleskill, NY, died Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at her home.

Born on February 16, 1928, in Barnerville, NY, she was the daughter of Frederick Stanton and Mabel Kniskern Stanton. She was a graduate of Cobleskill, NY and was a lifelong resident of the local area.

Virginia was a devoted and loving wife and mother.

She attended Barnerville United Methodist Church.

Ginnie served as a volunteer for the Salvation Army and the food bank at the First Baptist Church of Cobleskill. She was a member of the Coby Walkers and enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with friends and family. She took joy in cooking, baking, and jigsaw puzzles.

On July 3, 1948, Virginia married Raymond Fernandez. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2023. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter, Catherine Fernandez; grandson, Michael Roy and her siblings.

She is survived by her son, Douglas (Carol) Fernandez of Durham, NC; daughters: Diane (Steven) Silk of Jacksonville, FL, Ann-Marie (Richard) Frank of Cobleskill, NY; grandchildren, Anthony (Kaylyn) Fernandez, Joseph (Abigail) Fernandez, Adam Silk, Michael (Brittani) Silk, Diana Frank and Melissa Roy; great-grandchildren, Regan, Riley, Reece, Elizabeth, Joshua, Rebekah, Jonathan, George, Casey, Hunter, Bailey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, August 18, 2025 from 10:00-11:00am at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY with a service following at 11:00am with Pastor Nancy Harrington officiating. Burial will take place at Bramanville Prospect Cemtery.
