Virginia Mary (Logan) Dulin Glossip
Virginia Glossip, 95, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2022 at her home in Brookline, Mo with family members by her side. She was born to Alfred and Frances Gibbs Logan on January 4, 1927 in Hurley, MO. She was a member of Wright's Chapel in her youth and the Methodist Church the rest of her life.
In June 1944 she married Harold Dulin and to this union were born six children. During their marriage they maintained a large farm & traveled to various states for the building of golf courses. In May of 1971 she married Herman Glossip. They had a small farm and enjoyed working together on projects.
Virginia was a gifted artist from the time she was a young girl. She sketched in pencil, and later painted many pictures in oils and watercolors. In 1962 she took an art class from Charles Summey. His techniques are evident in her beautiful paintings that showed many of the places she had traveled. Later she became a devoted fan of Bob Ross.
Ginny, as her friends knew her, was also a wonderful gardener, both flowers and vegetables. For many years, most of the food she prepared came from their farm. She was meticulous about pulling weeds and even up until a year ago could tell the difference between a weed and a flower start. She loved pretty and interesting rocks. She would always pick them up to put around her garden and loved receiving them as gifts. She loved fishing and being outside, just watching birds, the sky, or the chickens. These are traits that are fondly shared by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was a good mother who loved freely & unconditionally.
A child of the depression, she always made sure that everyone had plenty to eat - farm hands, family, visitors, the animals - nobody went hungry when she was around. She was a wonderful cook, so it was rare for anyone to turn her down. She was very intelligent, resourceful, and independent. Ten Years ago we had to insist that she not climb on the roof to clean the chimney & gutters. She was not pleased. Within the last year we had to insist that she not move the bedroom furniture and couches around, or stand on chairs to rearrange pictures. Her response was, "I've been doing this all my life! I'm going to keep doing it!" She and Herman were avid dominos players, and until the last six months she could still beat anybody at dominos.
She loved babies, hymns, bluegrass gospel, hot black coffee, bright colored clothes, & sweets. It was discovered by her children years after that fact that the person who was secretly pinching each of the Christmas chocolates to find her favorite ones, the caramels, was in fact their mom.
Virginia was preceded in death by son David Dulin, a grandson Jeremy Dulin, both of her husbands, three brothers - Gordon, John Ronald (Bill), & Carl Logan, and 3 nephews - Douglas, Robert, & Tommy Logan.
She is survived by three sons - John Dulin (Jo), Jim Dulin (Marge), & Paul Dulin (Shelly), and two daughters Pat Wakefield (Dan) & Kathleen Ellerman (Matt), 2 stepsons - Dwight Glossip (Melodie) and Larry Glossip (Paula), 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-children.
The family would like to express deep gratitude to the staff of Phoenix Hospice, especially Jeri, Debbie, Kayla, James, Brady, & Jennifer for exceptional care & kindness while we were in their care.
Visitation will be at noon Saturday May 14, 2022 at Adams Funeral Home in Nixa, MO. Graveside services will at 1 p.m. at Highlandville Cemetery in Highlandville, MO.
