Virginia L. Hof

On Friday, November 21, 2025, Virginia L. (Tyler) Hof, 86, passed away at Rest Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation in York, PA. She was the devoted wife of the late Gunther O. Hof for 53 years before his passing in 2014. Virginia was born on July 25, 1939, in her Bedford, PA home, to the late Forest W. and Olive (Koontz) Tyler. She loved her Grandfather's farm and the farm life. After the family moved to Brooklyn Park, MD for her father to work at Curtis Bay, she graduated from the former Brooklyn Park High School in Maryland, then graduated from Lutheran Hospital's Nursing Program, becoming a registered nurse. She then received her Bachelor's degree from Mt. St. Mary's University. Virginia loved being a nurse, and stayed in nursing for 55 years before retiring. During her career as a nurse, she worked in several departments, such as OB, Med-Surg, Quality Assurance, Risk Management and Infection Control. Ginny enjoyed looking after and caring for people, cooking German food and was grateful for being part of producing a family that she truly loved. Virginia is survived by one son, Martin "Marty" G. Hof, his wife Stacey; four grandchildren: Corbin Hof, Mason Hof, Ashliegh Lucas, Madison Hof; three great grandchildren: Claire Lucas, Layne Hof and Charlotte Hof along with her three siblings, Dotty Bailey, John E. Tyler, and Nancy Pieters. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Kevin V. Hof; and one sister, Margie Myers. A service with public visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29, from 10:00am with the service beginning at 11:00am at Lazarus UCC, 5101 S. Church St., Lineboro, MD 21102. Pastor Rodney C. Gross will officiate. Interment will follow in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Glen Rock. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are recommended to The Michael J.
