I will always remember and cherish the many memories I have with Mema. I remember spending the night with Mema and Pappy at least once a week. I remember going to their house and them having ice cream that I was welcome to anytime and when my parents weren't there, they'd let me have as much as I wanted. I remember going to yard sales with Mema and the weekly trip to the Dollar Tree with Mema and Pappy. Sunday dinner was always a highlight growing up too. We'd go over every Sunday afternoon after church and share a meal as a family. Something I will remember is every Christmas Eve they'd give us gifts. And since there were quite a few grandkids, they'd give us things they'd find at yard sales as well as new items that they knew we would like. None of us ever minded that our gifts weren't all brand new. It was the thoughtfulness and the love they'd show toward us kids that counted. And lastly, I will never forget getting the privilege of spending the final months and days with Mema. I count it an honor that I got to be one of those who cared for her. Whether it was combing her hair, painting her finger nails, giving her a drink, being there to encourage and help her eat, spending the night with her at the rehab, or holding her hand, those are memories I'll always cherish in my heart! Mema meant so much to me and I will miss her dearly!
